The Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) is a non-profit organization devoted to expanding, motivating, supporting and celebrating the running community of Chicagoland. CARA connects runners to resources that enable them to run-farther, faster, better, for life.- CARA is a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 1978.

- We produce training and fitness programs for all levels of runners.
- We provide high-quality races and race circuits.
What Volunteers Do
Water Station Helpers: Volunteers will be assisting in the set up and distribution of water to runners in the race course.
Course Marshals: Volunteers will provide directions as well as alert runners of possible hazards along the race course.
Information Liaison: Volunteers will act as official Chicago Marathon Ambassadors and provide runners and spectators with valuable race day information.
